According to studies by the Lung Institute, breathing salt air can improve lung function lessening the need for antibiotics. It thins mucus, eases sinus pressure, reduces coughing, and the risk of asthma attacks.

The sea air’s “negatively charged hydrogen ions” promote oxygen absorption improving mood, energy, creativity, and sleep.

Floating in the ocean increases blood flow throughout our body and drives oxygen to the brain making us attentive and energized.

The sea’s magnesium moisturizes our skin, and the antibacterial properties improve ailments such as eczema and psoriasis. According to sources, the ocean boosts our immunity and helps us sleep.

Swimming in cold water releases hormones that elevate our spirit and energy levels and reduce inflammation. In addition to burning calories, a regular cold water dip can release dopamine and upgrade our physical condition.

Seaside living is conducive to activities like tennis, golfing, running, biking, swimming, surfing, exploring, and walking. Exercise strengthens our bodies and reduces health risks like obesity, some cancers, heart disease, diabetes, and depression, helping us live longer.

Our bodies produce vitamin D from the sun’s UVB rays.  Its anti-inflammatory properties may prevent cancer, osteoporosis, heart disease, and elevate our disposition. By spending ten to thirty minutes in the sun per day, we can improve our wellbeing. Daily exposure enables the body to store up to 60 days of the vitamin that we lack during northern winters. Darker or sunscreen-coated skin may need longer exposure to realize the rewards.

Seaside Dining 

If you are visiting a seaside resort, you should have your choice of high-protein-low-fat-fresh seafood along with fresh fruits and vegetables for healthy dining.

Conclusion

Years ago, an acquaintance said that he had moved seaside because it was his wife’s “power zone.” They knew that inhaling the oxygen-rich-salt air and wading in the lilting waves was a distraction from worries and elevated their wellness and demeanor.
